Dr. Ahmed Alibage, an Iraqi-born American, is a passionate expert in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the future of engineering. With extensive expertise in system thinking techniques such as system dynamics, fuzzy cognitive mapping (FCMs), and predictive modeling, Dr. Ahmed is dedicated to advancing the field. He earned his Doctorate in Technology Management from Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University in 2020, motivated by a strong commitment to enhancing system-wide safety in heavy industries and high-hazard settings.
Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Alibage held various roles in the cement and construction industries, including safety auditor, technical inspection engineer, project manager, and R&D program manager. His leadership was pivotal in driving organizational change and fostering a safety-focused culture integrated with digital transformation initiatives.
Driven by a desire to address the neglect of safety in work environments, Dr. Alibage pursued advanced studies with a focus on management, aiming to impact health, safety, and environmental outcomes. His research at Portland State University concentrated on High Reliability Organizations (HROs) within the offshore oil and gas sector. Recently, he led the development of a digitally enabled training platform designed to help practitioners in this industry adopt HRO principles.
Alongside his academic and professional achievements, Dr. Alibage is also passionate about graphic design and has volunteered his design skills for various organizations at Portland State University.
